Overview

How Donations Reach Charity Partners

After your vetted pickup team collects your items, they deliver directly to your assigned charity partner. If a charity cannot accept certain items, teams are encouraged to complete the delivery at additional charity partners whenever possible, so your donation still finds a home. Charity partnership costs are covered by the pickup service, so receiving donations never costs the charity anything. You can see your assigned charity on your donation management page.

What Items Can Be Picked Up

Items should be clean, usable, and in good condition. If it fits in a bag or box one person can safely carry, or it is furniture your team can move, it can be scheduled: clothing, kitchenware, books, toys, linens, furniture, and working appliances are all common donations. Hazardous items cannot be accepted, including paints, solvents, gas or oil powered motors, fluorescent bulbs, and medical waste. Not sure about an item? Ask our support team before pickup day.

When Items Cannot Be Accepted

Charities accept items they can use or sell in support of their mission, so condition matters. If an item cannot be accepted by any charity partner, your team will tell you on site and you can choose to have it recycled or responsibly disposed of for an added fee, or remove it from your pickup at no penalty. Appliances carry extra handling because charities generally accept them only when working and under about 8 years old, and proper recycling is required otherwise.
